I’m planning a trip to Kerala in 2025 and I’m a bit confused about how many days are actually needed to explore this beautiful state properly. Kerala has so much variety – backwaters in Alleppey/Kumarakom, beaches in Kovalam/Varkala, tea plantations in Munnar, wildlife in Thekkady, and cultural experiences in Kochi/Thrissur.
Some travel blogs suggest 5–6 days are enough, while others recommend 10–12 days for a relaxed itinerary. I want to balance sightseeing with some leisure time, without rushing through every destination.
👉 Could you please share your personal experiences?
How many days did you spend in Kerala, and did you feel it was enough?
If I only have 7 days, what would be the must-visit places?
And if I can stretch it to 10–12 days, what additional destinations or experiences should I include (like Wayanad, Vagamon, Bekal Fort, or a houseboat cruise)?
Is it better to focus on just 2–3 places in depth, or try to cover all the highlights in one trip?
Also, how does travel time between destinations affect the itinerary (e.g., Kochi–Munnar–Thekkady–Alleppey route)?
Any sample itineraries or tips from seasoned travelers would be super helpful. I’m also curious if certain months of the year need more/less days due to weather or festival events.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
