Hi everyone,
I’m planning a beach holiday in Kerala and Kovalam is high on my list because of its beautiful crescent-shaped beaches, lighthouse views, and Ayurvedic retreats. However, I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about the crowd situation during peak tourist season (November to February).
👉 Could anyone who has visited recently share:
How crowded does Kovalam get during peak season? Does it feel overwhelming, especially at Lighthouse Beach and Hawa Beach?
Are the beaches still enjoyable for swimming, relaxing, and sunset views, or do the crowds take away from the experience?
How difficult is it to find good accommodation during December/January without booking months in advance?
Are restaurants and beach shacks too busy, or is it still possible to get a relaxed dining experience?
Would you recommend visiting Kovalam during peak season, or is it better to plan for shoulder months like October or March when the weather is pleasant but the crowds are thinner?
I’d love to hear first-hand experiences, especially from travelers who enjoy peaceful beach vibes. Any tips on quieter alternatives near Kovalam (like Varkala or Poovar) would also be really helpful.
Thanks in advance for your advice! 🙏
