Hi everyone,
I’m planning a Kerala trip in 2025 and while I know the most popular destinations like Munnar hill station and the Alleppey backwaters, I’d really love to explore some offbeat and unexplored places in Kerala that are less crowded but equally beautiful.
A few things I’m curious about:
Hidden hill stations in Kerala: Are there lesser-known hill stations like Ponmudi, Silent Valley, or Vagamon that are good alternatives to Munnar? How do they compare in terms of scenery and accessibility?
Unexplored backwaters: Apart from Alleppey and Kumarakom, are there quieter backwater destinations like Kollam, Kuttanad, or Ashtamudi that still offer authentic houseboat or canoe rides without the heavy tourist rush?
Beaches beyond Kovalam and Varkala: Any hidden beaches in Kerala that are cleaner, less commercialized, and great for a peaceful holiday?
Cultural and heritage spots: Are there small towns or villages in Kerala that showcase traditional art forms, temples, festivals, or local cuisine in a more authentic way?
Adventure & nature: Any unexplored trekking routes, waterfalls, or wildlife sanctuaries (like Gavi or Parambikulam) that you’d recommend for nature and photography lovers?
Basically, I’d love to hear about Kerala’s hidden gems — places that most first-time travelers miss but are worth visiting for a more local, offbeat experience.
If you’ve personally explored such destinations, please share your tips, experiences, and the best time to visit these unexplored places in Kerala.
