Kasol is a backpacker’s paradise – cheap cafes, Israeli food, riverside camping, and treks like Kheerganga. It’s quiet, offbeat, and more “chill.” Manali offers more activities, better infrastructure, and is touristy, but also more crowded. For someone who loves meeting travellers, trekking, and slow living → Kasol. For someone who wants adventure sports, snow, and easy transport → Manali. Honestly, they complement each other well (Kasol is just 2–3 hrs from Manali), so many backpackers do both.
