What is the difference between Pattaya’s Walking Street and Bangkok’s nightlife?

I’m confused whether to spend more nights in Bangkok or Pattaya. Both are known for nightlife. What’s the difference between Bangkok’s nightlife (Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza) and Pattaya’s Walking Street? Which is better for tourists?
