Hi fellow travellers,
I’ll be visiting Singapore soon and I keep hearing mixed opinions about shopping for electronics there. Some friends told me it’s cheaper compared to India (or even other countries in Asia), while others say the price difference isn’t much once you add GST, warranties, and conversion rates.
I’m mainly interested in gadgets like smartphones, laptops, cameras, and maybe some accessories like headphones or smartwatches. I’ve also come across names like Sim Lim Square, Mustafa Centre, and Funan Mall, but I’m not sure which one actually offers genuine products at good prices.
A few things I’m curious about:
Is it really cheaper to buy electronics in Singapore compared to India?
Are there any hidden costs (taxes, warranty issues, adapters, etc.) that I should know about?
Which places are best for safe, genuine purchases without the risk of scams?
Has anyone had personal experience buying gadgets in Singapore recently?
I don’t mind paying a little extra for authenticity and warranty, but I’d love to know if it’s worth making big electronic purchases there or if I should just buy back home.
Thanks in advance for your tips!
