Hi fellow travelers,
I’ll be visiting Singapore soon for a short trip (around 5–7 days) and I’m trying to figure out the most budget-friendly way to stay connected during my stay. Since I’ll be exploring a lot of places like Marina Bay, Sentosa, Little India, and Chinatown, having reliable internet for maps, Grab rides, and general browsing is important.
I’ve seen a few options online:
Prepaid tourist SIM cards (from Singtel, StarHub, M1, etc.)
Airport counters (Changi has SIMs and WiFi device rentals)
eSIM options (Airalo, Holafly, etc.)
Pocket WiFi rentals
Relying on public WiFi (malls, MRT stations, etc.)
I’m not sure which one gives the best balance of price + data + convenience. I don’t want to overspend since I’ll mainly need it for Google Maps, social media updates, and some video calls.
For those who have traveled recently:
Which provider has the cheapest and most reliable prepaid SIM in Singapore?
Is it better to buy at the airport or in the city?
Has anyone tried eSIMs there — are they worth it compared to local SIMs?
Is public WiFi good enough for short-term use, or too unreliable?
Any personal experiences, cost breakdowns, or tips would be super helpful. 🙏
Thanks in advance!
