Hi everyone,
I’m planning a trip to Singapore soon and I’m trying to finalize where to stay. Since I’m traveling on a budget, I’ve narrowed it down to Geylang, Bugis, or Little India. I’ve read mixed opinions online, so I’d love to hear from actual travelers who’ve stayed in these areas.
Geylang: I know it’s often mentioned for cheaper accommodation, but I’ve also read that it’s Singapore’s red-light district. Is it safe for solo travelers, especially at night?
Bugis: Seems a bit trendier with shopping and food options, but I’m wondering if it’s still affordable compared to the other two. Does it have budget-friendly hostels or guesthouses?
Little India: I’ve heard it has vibrant culture, great food, and cheaper stays, but is it noisy and crowded? How convenient is it for accessing the MRT and main attractions?
My priorities are:
Safety (since I’ll be exploring late evenings sometimes)
Budget accommodation (hostels or guesthouses)
Easy access to MRT/public transport
Good food options nearby
If you’ve stayed in any of these areas recently, could you share your experience? Which one do you think strikes the best balance between affordability, convenience, and safety?
Thanks in advance for your tips!
