Hi fellow travellers,
I’ll be visiting Singapore soon and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get around the city. I’ve read that the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) system is very efficient, clean, and well-connected. At the same time, I’ve also seen many people recommending Grab (ride-hailing) for convenience, especially if you’re short on time or traveling late at night.
I’d love to hear from those who have actually used both options during their stay:
Is the MRT easy to navigate for first-time visitors?
How much cheaper is MRT compared to Grab for common routes (like airport to city, or from Orchard Road to Sentosa)?
Are there situations where Grab makes more sense (like traveling with luggage, late-night rides, or in areas with less MRT coverage)?
For a 4–5 day trip, would you suggest getting an EZ-Link card / Singapore Tourist Pass for unlimited MRT rides, or just mixing MRT with Grab when needed?
I’m looking for a balance between cost, convenience, and overall experience. What worked best for you during your Singapore trip?
Thanks in advance for sharing your tips!
